Why CIMILab exists

CIMILab exists to advance the science of machine intelligence in ways that are computationally rigorous, reproducible, and trustworthy enough to deploy in high-stakes real-world settings — with an emphasis on medical and health AI.

We believe AI systems for clinical applications must be evaluated more carefully, interpreted more clearly, and deployed more responsibly than the current state of the art often allows. Closing that gap is our core mission.

Active Research Themes

  • Medical & Health AI
  • Multimodal Learning
  • Efficient AI & Edge Settings
  • Interpretable & Human-Centered AI
  • Benchmarking & Evaluation

All research follows CIMILab's reproducibility standard — versioned data, fixed seeds, scripted evaluation, and public model weights.

What defines our approach

Research that is methodical, interpretable, and impact-oriented

CIMILab balances theory, implementation, and responsibility so that our machine intelligence systems remain useful in practice.

Method-first thinking

We focus on strong modeling choices, careful benchmarking, and clear evidence rather than superficial novelty.

Responsible AI

Trustworthiness, interpretability, and robustness are treated as design requirements, not afterthoughts.

Real-world relevance

From medical imaging to deployment-ready tooling, our work aims to connect research with meaningful outcomes.

Four Research Pillars

Four interconnected pillars frame everything CIMILab works on — from fundamental model design to responsible real-world deployment.

Machine Intelligence

Deep learning architectures, ensemble methods, and attention mechanisms for high-stakes prediction and segmentation tasks.

Medical Image Segmentation Ensemble Methods Attention Networks

Computational Informatics

Data infrastructure, benchmarking frameworks, and evaluation pipelines that make AI experiments reproducible and comparable.

Benchmarking Frameworks Reproducibility Standards

Trustworthy AI Systems

Uncertainty quantification, interpretability methods, and fairness auditing — building AI that clinicians and patients can trust.

Explainable AI Fairness & Bias Auditing

Translational AI

Bridging research and deployment — efficient inference, edge adaptation, and clinical decision support at real-world scale.

Our Reproducibility Standard

Every project in CIMILab is held to a reproducibility standard published and versioned openly. This is not a checkbox — it is a design constraint that shapes how we run experiments from day one.

Versioned datasets with checksums
Fixed random seeds documented
Full training configs committed
Scripted, one-command evaluation
Reported ablations, not just top results
Model weights + inference code released
